The most beautiful moment

Published almost 3 years ago • 1 min read

The porcelain flowers to hang on the wall were the pieces that stood out the most from my entire production. The first set I made won a special mention at the 2009 Argentinian National Visual Arts Award in the Ceramics category.

From that moment on, they evolved until reaching the last series that I made in 2017. These grey-blue flowers were exhibited in various places including the Clandestino restaurant, where they shared the walls with the works entitled California Seaweeds by the textile artist and interior designer Carolina Salom.

Today I am pleased to share the news that a selection of my porcelain flowers from 2017 is available at CSalom Atelier, the space created by Carolina to display and share her functionalist art, along with a careful selection of objects in tune with her philosophy of life.

You are invited to stop by the Atelier, by appointment, to see my flowers and learn more about Carolina's art and practice.

VIEWING

Sometimes I struggle to put some ideas into words, even although I feel that they are of the greatest importance. And one day, the concept appears perfectly expressed in the most unexpected place.

That's what happened when I was watching episode 2 of the second season of Chef's Table on Netflix, dedicated to the Brazilian restaurant D.O.M. where chef Alex Atala opens the chapter by talking about his punk past and his lysergic experiences to go on to tell a revealing dream. The story describes a dreamlike walk through the Amazon jungle where someone points out a flower that represents the meaning of life.

If you have 2 minutes to watch this excerpt from the show, I suggest you do so. Never in my life have I heard anyone define the symbolism of a flower more appropriately, describing it as "the most beautiful moment."

I'm happy to announce that two of my necklaces have been selected for the III Bienal Latinoamericana de joyería contemporánea within the frame of the "Abran cancha" contest. The proposal was that we search in our work for the elements that infuse it with its South American essence. 114 pieces belonging to 73 artists from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Chile and Argentina are part of the exhibition. The two works I presented are titled Uprooted 1 and 3 and were made with hand-modeled stain...

This year I learned how to tint textiles with indigo, a dye obtained from the fermentation of the leaves of a plant called Indigofera tinctoria, common in Asia and Africa. I have wanted to achieve this shade for a long time but knew that the technique was very different from what is used for most natural dyes. Overcome the technical challenge (will tell you more about this in future emails), I dedicated myself to dyeing the cords for my necklaces, which I matched with cobalt-stained handmade...

Today I want to share the happiness of seeing a beautiful project come true thanks to my friend Coy from El Pez Enmarcado. It consists of 4 digitally printed drawings on textured paper and natural wood frame, created for the collection of prints by Argentine illustrators by El Pez, printed and framed in high quality materials and at affordable prices. Participating in this project is particularly interesting to me because it is a way to incorporate a new technology into my work (in this case...
